SEO Content Strategy

Plan content around demand, commercial intent and refresh.

Publishing more will not fix a missing topic system. Content strategy maps demand, assigns a job to each URL, and briefs work sales will recognise.

Demand, then pages

Content without a search job is just a publishing habit.

This is not a writing retainer and not a calendar of blog ideas. Pixoflix maps the queries around the offer, clusters them by job, and assigns an owner URL before anyone drafts. Commercial pages, comparison pages and informational support are planned together so the article does not outrank the service page it was meant to feed. Existing URLs get a refresh rule. New URLs get a brief with search language, sales language and a next step. Production can sit in-house, with us, or with your writers. The strategy is the system they all work from.

Why calendars stall

Volume is not a strategy, and a keyword list is not a brief.

  • The calendar is volume-led and sales never send the pages to anyone.
  • Keywords were chosen from a tool, not from closed-won language.
  • Informational posts outrank the commercial URL they should support.
  • Existing articles age in place with no refresh rule.
  • Briefs tell writers the keyword and nothing about the offer or the next step.
  • Clusters were named on a slide and never assigned an owner URL.

What the strategy contains

Research, clusters, briefs and a roadmap with owners.

You leave with a working system: which URLs exist, what they are for, what to write or refresh next, and how to brief it. Writing can be scoped after that, not instead of it.

  1. 01

    Demand and keyword research

Queries sized and filtered against the offer, the sales motion and the pages that can fulfil them. Vanity head terms are marked as such.

  2. 02

    Cluster and URL architecture

Topics grouped by commercial, comparison and informational jobs, each with one owner URL and supporting pages.

  3. 03

    Production briefs

Briefs that include intent, outline, proof to gather, internal links and the conversion action. Not a keyword and a word count.

  4. 04

    Prioritised roadmap

A sequenced list of new pages and refreshes, ordered by demand, closeness to revenue and cost to produce.

  5. 05

    Refresh rules for ageing URLs

Criteria for update, merge, redirect or leave alone, so the library does not grow sideways forever.

  6. 06

    Sales-language check

A pass with someone who sells, so the briefs use the words buyers actually say, not only the words the tool suggested.

How the system is built

Research the demand. Then give every URL a job.

We talk to sales and read the current library before we open a keyword tool. The roadmap is a decision about what not to publish.

  1. 01

    Size search demand

Queries are gathered from tools, site search, sales calls and competitors, then filtered for intent you can fulfil.

  2. 02

    Cluster by commercial job

Topics are grouped by the decision they support: evaluate, compare, learn, or buy. Mixed-intent clusters are split.

  3. 03

    Assign URL ownership

Each cluster gets one owner URL. Supporting pieces are linked to it. Orphans and duplicates are marked for merge.

  4. 04

    Write production briefs

The next items on the roadmap get briefs a writer and a reviewer can both use, including proof and internal links.

  5. 05

    Queue the refresh list

Ageing URLs are scored for update versus replacement, so new production does not ignore the library you already paid for.

  6. 06

    Review against sales language

Briefs and titles are checked with the people who hear objections, then adjusted before they go into production.

Useful when

Content strategy is the buy when publishing has no system.

  • You are about to hire writers and do not want a year of unfocused posts.
  • Organic traffic is articles, and commercial pages stay invisible.
  • A product launch needs a cluster, not a single announcement URL.
  • The library is large and nobody knows what to refresh versus retire.
  • UX research or sales notes exist and have never been turned into search briefs.
  • On-page SEO improved existing URLs and the remaining gap is missing pages.

What we judge

A library with jobs, not a pile of posts.

  • Every priority URL has an owner job

Commercial and informational pages stop competing for the same query.

  • Briefs writers can execute

Production starts from intent, proof and a next step, not from a keyword cell.

  • A roadmap you can defend

The next quarter of content is a sequence, including what you will not write.

  • A refresh habit

Ageing URLs are revisited on a rule, so the library compounds instead of rotting.

Questions

Buying questions, answered directly.

  • Not by default. This engagement is research, clusters, briefs and the roadmap. Writing can be added, or your team can produce against the briefs. Mixing those two without a system is how calendars fill up and sales still have nothing to send.

Next move

Stop publishing until the brief is commercial.

Tell us what you sell and what the library already contains. We will say whether you need a strategy, on-page work on existing URLs, or both.
